Triathlon Australia and the Adelaide World Duathlon are pleased to announce the SCA Elite Oceania Duathlon Championships on the 19th of October 2014.

Originally a test event prior to next year’s world championships, the Oceania status will ensure that the Adelaide event will attract Australia’s and New Zealand’s top duathletes and triathletes.  Elites will race over a 5km run, 20km draft legal bike, and final 2.5km run in the heart of Adelaide.

Sports Chiropractic Australia (SCA) are providing $10K prize money to be equally shared by the elite women and men. Triathlon Australia have confirmed that the Championships will be the main selection race for the elite national team to compete at the Adelaide 2015 ITU Duathlon World Championships.

Adelaide World Duathlon General Manager, Jenny Mann, expressed “we are delighted that Sports Chiropractic Australia are supporting the continental championships, and as a result we expect a high quality elite field to race on the 19th of October, including some of the best duathletes in the world”.

“Australia has proven its depth in the sport, though our current Under 23 World Champion, Gill Backhouse, and World Junior Champion, Jake Birtwhistle.  There will be some tough racing at the SCA Elite Oceania Championships, with competitors vying for three available spots on the Australian team for next year’ said Ms Mann.

The National Chairman of Sports Chiropractic Australia (SCA), Mr Jon Tan, expressed “we are delighted to be involved with the sport of duathlon in Australia and Oceania.  Our sports chiropractors have a special interest in working with athletes and we have a lot of respect for the physical and mental achievements of elite triathletes and duathletes” said Mr Tan.
