ITU Sport Development Team Visit to Asia

As the eyes of the sporting world look toward Singapore next week (6th July) and the announcement of the successful bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games, the ITU Sport Development Team embark on a 12 day visit to Singapore to promote the newly created ITU Sport Development Program.

The visit also not only coincides with the 117th IOC Session and the 2012 Olympic Games announcement, but also with the 14th Asian Triathlon Championships which will be held in Singapore on July 2nd & 3rd.

During the visit the ITU Team will present an outline of the ITU Sport Development Plan 2005 – 08 to ASTC National Federations and discuss with them a number of ideas to further develop the sport throughout Asia.

Following the Triathlon Championships, the ITU Athlete and Coach Development Team of Brett Mace and Kristine Chambers will conduct a Junior Development Camp for 18 junior triathletes from the Region.  The Camp will run from Monday 4th to Sunday 11th July.

ITU are delighted the announce that former 2 time World Triathlon Champion and the most successful ever ITU Triathlete, Emma Carney and leading Australian Triathlon Coach Miles Browning will be the Guest Coaches for this Camp. 

On Tuesday 5th July, ITU President Les McDonald, ITU Secretary General Bill Walker, ITU Executive Director Loreen Barnett and ITU Sport Development Team members Gergely Markus, Kristine Chambers and Brett Mace will all be in attendance as the ITU Sport Development Program is officially launched.
