2015 ITU Hamburg World Triathlon - Femmina ITA

Proving that she is also capable at dominating in a sprint, USA’s Gwen Jorgensen claimed victory at the 2015 ITU World Triathlon Hamburg. With Great Britain’s Vicky Holland giving Jorgensen some pressured competition up until the last 500 metres, the 11-time WTS consecutive winner showcased her speed and pure talent by breaking away on the blue carpet to ultimately take home yet another gold.

No stranger to the podium, but a stranger to the top, France’s Vincent Luis produced a remarkable run at World Triathlon Hamburg to claim his first ever World Triathlon Series title over four-time World Champion Javier Gomez Noya (ESP). Engaged in a tight battle with Gomez the entire race, Luis launched past the No.1 world ranked Spaniard in the last 300 metres, becoming the first French athlete to ever win a WTS title.

From wounded warrior to triathlete - a remarkable journey

While military training had prepared Melissa Stockwell for almost any situation, nothing had prepared her for what she was about to discover.After her convoy was attacked she attempted to exit her vehicle when she noticed a great deal of blood by her feet. Calling for help, she motioned over a medic who recovered her from the truck and gave her aid. It was then that Stockwell realized that she had lost a limb from the collision. 11 years on she is one of paratriathlons brightest stars. Listen to her remarkable journey here.

Making his home country proud, Alistair Brownlee (GBR) captured a breakaway win at the 2015 ITU World Triathlon London. With the familiar crowd cheering him on in Hyde Park as he crossed the finish line at 50:39, the Brit was able to tally his second WTS victory of the season.
