2019 Asiago Winter Triathlon World Championships Highlights

With the thermometer hitting minus 12 degrees Celsius and under a clear sky in the Italian Altipiano of Asiago, the Russian team once again showed the world that they are the country to beat when it comes to winter triathlon. Pavel Andreev (RUS) claimed his seventh world title in a dominant performance, while compatriot Daria Rogozina, still a U23 athlete, was the surprise of the day, claiming not only the U23 world crown but also the Elite.

Louise Atkinson, Canadian world triathlete with grand ambition
She Loves Tri: Despite a shocking accident in 2012 which left Louise Atkinson with severe concussion and 18 fractures to her body, she continues to show the world of triathlon her incredible strength and ambitious nature. The Canadian has proudly stepped onto the World Triathlon podium five-times, claimed a gold medal and has competed in every ITU World Triathlon Grand Final since 2013 and also back in 2010.

Top 10 Moments of 2018 - Men’s Team Norway Sweep WTS Bermuda podium
The first-ever WTS Bermuda event was historical for more ways than one. In the men's race, Norweigan Casper Stornes had an impressive breakaway performance to win his first-career WTS race. He then was joined on the podium by his Norweigan training partners and compatriots, Kristian Blummenfelt and Gustav Iden to sweep the medal count for the nation.
It was also the first time in ITU history that a single nation swept the podium in a WTS men's race.

Top 10 Moments of 2018 - Highlights from the Fyn Multisport Festival
In 2017 the first ITU Multisport World Championships Festival debuted in Penticton, Canada. In 2018 the event continued into Fyn, Denmark and saw another successful turnout! Multisport athletes from across the globe showcased their talents in Aquathlon, Duathlon, Aquabike, Cross Triathlon and Long-Distance Triathlon.

Top 10 Moments of 2018 - Australian Paratriathlete Lauren Parker Returns to Glory
Despite enduring a bike crash during a training session that left her paralyzed from the waist down, Aussie Lauren Parker reimagined her dream of winning the Ironman World Championships to becoming a Champion in Paratriathlon in the PTWC sport class.
She competed in the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and the 2018 Paratriathlon World Championships in the Gold Coast and earned the bronze medal in both events.

Top 10 Moments of 2018 - Mario Mola wins his third World Championship
Spaniard Mario Mola made history in 2018 by becoming only the second man in ITU history to win three straight World Championship titles. His dominating 2018 season saw him win four WTS races in the regular season in Yokohama, Hamburg, Edmonton and Montreal before a second-place finish in the Gold Coast gave him his three-peat crown.
Spanish Javier Gomez is the only other man to have won three straight World Championships in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Training in the Arctic as a World Triathlete
Canadian triathlete Meghan Scott has been living in the Arctic (Inuvik, Northwest Territories, Canada) for the past 18 months. The only pool in town closed in March and the only paved road in town has been under construction all summer! It’s been a lot of indoor training for this triathlete who represented Canada at the 2018 ITU Grand Final on the Gold Coast. It may have been an interesting training base but her love for triathlon is strong and her drive is inspiring. #SheLovesTri
