The world title is years in the making for Zaferes, who finished fifth in the ITU World Triathlon Series in 2015, fourth in 2016, third in 2017 and second in 2018.Zaferes won four of the eight WTS races this season, including the Grand Final and earned silver in a fifth.

2019 Lima ITU World Cup - Elite Men’s Highlights
Manoel Messias was a man on a mission in Lima after his individual silver at July’s PanAmerican Games, and he pulled away from the pack over the final 500m to earn a brilliant World Cup gold ahead of Florin Salvisberg (SUI) and Felix Duchampt (ITU).

2019 Lima ITU World Cup - Elite Women’s Highlights
The first ever Lima World Cup took to the Peruvian capital’s Playa Agua Dulce on Sunday morning for the penultimate race of the 2019 calendar. Over the sprint distance course Japan’s Ai Ueda showed no signs of fatigue after her gold in Miyazaki and silver in Tongyeong, out-sprinting Yuliya Yelistratova (UKR) and Elizabeth Bravo (ECU) to take the tape once more.

2019 Miyazaki ITU World Cup - Elite Men’s Highlights
The elite men lined up on the beach in Miyazaki in fine conditions with the official water temperature reading 23.7 degrees Celsius and the air was a balmy 27 degrees Celsius.The field was stacked with a mix of Olympians, World Cup experience and emerging triathlon talent, vying for success in Miyazaki and racing for valuable points as part of the Olympic qualification process.

Weihai ITU World Cup - Elite Women’s Highlights
field of 34 elite women lined up along Halfmoon Bay to tackle the 2019 Weihai ITU World Cup, over a standard distance race format. The course started with two laps in the waters of the bay, followed by a six-lap ride that includes an energy-zapping 2km climb, rounding off with four loops of a fast and flat 2.5km run along the coast.

Weihai ITU World Cup - Elite Men’s Highlights
field of 49 elite men lined up along the coastline of Halfmoon Bay, in the north-eastern corner of Weihai, China, to compete for World Cup glory. Conditions were near perfect for race day, with the water temperature officially recorded at a comfortable 23.1 degrees Celcius and the air temperature a balmy 27 degrees.
